Christmas Gift Fair

Award-winning attraction The Canterbury Tales throws open its doors this month for its first ever Christmas Artisan Gift Fair – a special festive market with a medieval twist.
On November 29 and 30, shoppers will be able to enter the attraction free of charge and enjoy some mead and a mince pie at the famous Tabard Inn.
They can then step back in time to the streets of 14th century England and purchase gifts from a host of Kent artisans such as Kajulee Handmade Jewellery, Mulberry Glass Art, MD Paint it Pottery, Noble Arts Pyography and many more. Other gifts on offer include hand-crafted wooden tableware and a range of fabric crafts made with traditional techniques such as felting, spinning and knitting.
The stalls will be set among the attraction’s vibrant tableaux, which depict five of Chaucer’s most famous stories. Visitors can also browse the attraction’s own gift shop and purchase medieval-themed gifts such as the Hall of Names; a must-have for those interested in family history. You can even pick up a copy of the new Monopoly: Canterbury Edition, which features The Canterbury Tales on its own square!
Entrance to the fair will be free and visitors will be given discount vouchers for a future visit to the attraction, so they can return with family and friends and experience The Canterbury Tales over Christmas and the New Year.
The attraction’s general manager, Lyndsay Ridley, says: “This is the first time that The Canterbury Tales has opened its doors to shoppers looking for quality Christmas gifts and it promises to be a unique experience. Our Christmas Artisan Gift Fair will showcase the best of local craft and design.”
The fair takes place between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November 2014.
The Canterbury Tales provides a great introduction to the historic cathedral city and its famous literary connection within a stunningly accurate reconstruction of 14th century England, set inside the former St Margaret’s Church. The attraction is operated by Continuum Leading Attractions, who manage a host of visitor attractions around the country and most recently launched Coronation Street: The Tour in Manchester.
