Artisan Christmas Gift Fair

News item · 30 November 2014

The Canterbury Tales is seeking stall-holders for a special festive market with a medieval twist.

On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November, the award-winning attraction will throw open its doors for its first ever Christmas Artisan Gift Fair, and organisers are keen to hear from local designers and artisans interested in selling quality craft and gifts.

Shoppers will be able to enter the attraction free of charge and enjoy some mulled cider and a mince pie at the famous Tabard Inn. They can then step back in time to the streets of 14th century England and purchase gifts from a host of stalls set among the attraction’s vibrant tableaux, which depict five of Chaucer’s best-loved stories.christmas-gift-fair

Entrance to the fair will be free and visitors will be given discount vouchers for a future visit to the attraction, so they can return with family and friends and experience The Canterbury Tales over Christmas and the New Year.

The attraction’s general manager, Lyndsey Ridley, says: “This is the first time that The Canterbury Tales has opened its doors to shoppers looking for quality Christmas gifts and it promises to be a unique experience. Our Christmas Artisan Gift Fair will showcase the best of local craft and design, and we would particularly like to see some sellers who work with natural materials such as wood, leather and paper.”

Traders interested in attending the fair should contact Francesca Lashmar on us or email by Friday 24 October.

The Canterbury Tales’ Christmas Artisan Gift Fair is taking place between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November 2014. There is no charge for pitches but a 20% commission will be charged on takings over the two days. Tables and chairs will be provided for stall-holders.
