Nestled in the heart of Canterbury since 1987, our long-running and well-loved visitor experience encapsulates Chaucer’s famous tales in an authentic and engaging way. We have truly stood the test of time, as the attraction remains a must-see experience for domestic and overseas visitors to Canterbury!
Take a look at some fun facts about The Canterbury Tales throughout its lifetime…
Continuum Heritage Family
Here at the Canterbury Tales, we are proud to be a Continuum Heritage Attraction! We belong to a family of other attractions owned by Continuum, including The Real Mary King's Close, York's Chocolate Story and Oxford Castle Unlocked.
A Leading Light...
At the time of its conception, the Canterbury Tales was innovative and one of a kind, leading the way in immersive experiences, which today are much more commonplace. Today, we are the only attraction in the world dedicated to Chaucer and his Tales, so we remain one of a kind.
Voiced by 80's Stars
We still use the incredible audio guides recorded in 1987 when The Canterbury Tales was born. Our voice actors include 80s stars: Prunella Scales, Freddy Jones, Geoffrey Banks, Bernard Cribbins, Ronald Pickup, Robert Powell and Roy Kinnear!
30th Birthday Celebrations!
Next year we celebrate our 30th year as The Canterbury Tales, Canterbury's much-loved visitor attraction. We are the second oldest attraction in Canterbury (after the Cathedral, which is hard to beat!) and so we have 30 years worth of heritage and stories to tell!
