Win £250 in the Canterbury Tales look-a-like competition

How would you like to be a millionaire? The Canterbury Tales visitor attraction is staging a unique look-a-like competition to find a modern day pilgrim with the winner set to pocket £250, which in the 14th Century would have made you a millionaire!

The search is now on to find a modern day look-a-like for one of Chaucer’s most legendary characters from the gapped tooth beauty of the Wife of Bath to the bearded glory of the Miller. Do you think you might look like one of the characters in Geoffrey Chaucer’s much loved Canterbury Tales?

The competition to find a Canterbury Tales look-a-like is now open and will run until Saturday 5th June 2010 when the final judging of the short listed candidates will take place at the Medieval Market.

To enter the competition send your best shot as a JPEG e-mail attachment along with your name, address and telephone number to contact us stating which unique Canterbury Tales character you think you look like (Terms & Conditions apply).

Entrants may wish to base their entries on what some of the characters inside the Canterbury Tales attraction look like or they may go with their own interpretation on how they envisage a modern day pilgrim may look.

The attraction itself tells the Tales of 5 of the most famous of Chaucer’s stories, giving wide room for interpretations on how entrants think some of the characters may have looked.

This list is not exhaustive and entries can be submitted from any of the characters mentioned within the workings of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.

Terms & Conditions

• This competition is open to anyone aged 18 years or over, except for employees of the Canterbury Tales attraction or any companies or agencies directly connected with the creation of and administration of this promotion or their families.

• Multiple entries will be accepted.
• All photo entries must be submitted by email to: contact us before midnight on Friday 28th May 2010. No entries whatsoever will be considered after this time.
• All entrants must provide their full name, address and date of birth. Any entry received without this information will not be entered into the competition by Canterbury Tales. All details provided will be verified when the competition closes.
• Entries will not be acknowledged upon submission.
• Once the finalists have been selected by a judging team from the Canterbury Tales there will be a vote to decide the overall winner at the Medieval Market on Saturday 5th June 2010. The Medieval Market will take place on this date in the churchyard to the rear of the Canterbury Tales. Short listed finalists must attend this event in order to go through a final judging procedure.
• The Canterbury Tales will select the finalists in their sole discretion.
• By entering the competition the Canterbury Tales obtains full copyright of the submitted entries.
• All entrants grant to the Canterbury Tales a worldwide royalty free perpetual licence to publish and use each entry in any media (including online) for publicity and news purposes. In particular, all entrants licence Canterbury Tales the right to use their entry within the attraction itself, any associated marketing literature and http://www.canterburytales.org.uk/.
• Entrants shall not submit any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
• The Canterbury Tales will not be responsible for any technical fault or failure which prevents a person from entering the competition.
• The Canterbury Tales takes no responsibility for any entries that are lost, delayed, corrupted, damaged, incomplete or otherwise invalid.
• Each entry must be an image of the entrant themselves and not a submission of a third party.
• Entries may be rejected in the sole discretion of the Canterbury Tales, including for reasons of obscenity, defamation or invasion of privacy.
• The overall winner will be notified on Saturday 5th June following the final judging process at the Medieval Market taking place on that date.
• The Prize Winner must agree to his or her name and general location being used for publicity purposes by Canterbury Tales in any and all media.
• The Prize Winner must agree to participate in future publicity shots as required by the Canterbury Tales.
• Any breach of these competition rules by an entrant will void their entry.
• The Canterbury Tales decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• The prize will consist of a cheque in the name of the winner for £250.
• No purchase necessary.
• These Terms & Conditions are subject to English law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
• By submitting an entry you agree to accept these terms and conditions.
