Escape to Kent Life and the Canterbury Tales
Two of Kent’s top visitor attractions are promising a warm welcome for Londoners who are looking to escape the traffic mayhem and disruption brought to the city during the Olympics in July and August.
Kent Life near Maidstone and The Canterbury Tales offer a great day out for people fleeing congestion in the capital, said Sarah Hirsch, marketing manager for both attractions. “We are right on the doorstep for London and people can escape to the Garden of England and enjoy two of the best visitor attractions in the South East.”
The Canterbury Tales is an award-winning attraction based in the heart of Canterbury. It provides an excellent introduction to the historic cathedral city and its famous literary connection as well as being a hugely enjoyable day out for the whole family.
The Canterbury Tales brings to life five of Geoffrey Chaucer’s best-loved stories with tales of love, romance, jealousy and trickery, vividly re-created with all the fun of Chaucer's original tales. Its reconstruction of 14th century England, set inside the former St Margaret’s Church, gives visitors the chance to experience the sights, smells and sounds of medieval times.
Londoners interested in an alternative take on the Olympics can visit the Go for Gold! event in the churchyard between 30 July and 3 August and enjoy an interactive journey through the Olympic story with puppetry, music, mayhem and mirth. Have a go and join in the medieval games at one of two daily performances.
From 7 to 9 August there will be live performances of The Canterbury Tales when your favourite Chaucer characters are brought to life in a humorous live performance, suitable for all the family. Join The Miller, The Nun’s Priest, The Wife of Bath, The Pardoner and The Merchant as they battle it out to tell the best tale. Who will be your favourite?
