Pilgrims in the Footsteps of Geoffrey Chaucer…

Literary pilgrimsLiterary pilgrimsLiterary pilgrims who completed a 65-mile walk from London to Canterbury to recreate Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales ended their adventure with a visit to one of the UK’s best-loved tourist attractions.

The Canterbury Tales visitor attraction rewarded the pilgrims for completing the four-day trek by providing free admission.

Pilgrimage organiser Henry Eliot said: “This is the second year we’ve followed in the footsteps of the pilgrims featured by Chaucer. Along the route we stopped off at many historical sites, and to complete our journey by enjoying the very sights and sounds of medieval England at The Canterbury Tales was a real treat.”

The Canterbury Tales is celebrating its 25th anniversary and, for the first time, costumed character guides are on hand to entertain, amuse and educate visitors for part of the tour, which brings to life five of Geoffrey Chaucer’s best-loved stories with tales of love, romance and trickery.

The Canterbury Tales provides a great introduction to the cathedral city and its famous literary connection as well as being a hugely entertaining day out for the whole family. Having welcomed more than two million visitors from all over the world, The Canterbury Tales remains one of Kent’s ‘must see’ attractions.
